The quality of stainless steel sheets can be judged by appearance. The following aspects can be used for observation:
1. Surface finish
High quality: The surface is smooth, scratch-free, and has no dents, showing a uniform gloss and good reflective effect.
Low quality: The surface is rough and uneven, with obvious scratches, pits or uneven gloss, which may indicate poor processing quality or improper surface treatment.
2. Color
High quality: The color is uniform, showing silvery white or slightly cyan (this is related to the chromium content of stainless steel). There is no obvious color difference.
Low quality: The surface may show unnatural colors such as dark yellow and brown, which may be caused by the oxide layer or improper surface treatment.
3. Welding quality
High quality: The weld is flat, crack-free, and has no welding spills, and the color of the welded part is consistent with the overall stainless steel plate.
Low quality: The welded part may have cracks, uneven welding, spills, inconsistent colors, etc., indicating that the welding technology and quality control are not in place.
4. Surface contamination
High quality: There is no oil stain, stain or rust on the surface.
Low quality: There may be oil stains, contaminants or small rust spots on the surface, which is usually caused by improper storage or irregular cleaning processes during production.
5. Edge processing
High quality: The edge is cut smoothly without burrs or irregular marks.
Low quality: Irregular cutting and obvious burrs on the edges indicate unqualified cutting process or aging of materials.
6. Thickness uniformity
High quality: The thickness of the stainless steel sheet is uniform and consistent, without obvious uneven thickness.
Low quality: The thickness of the plate may be uneven, or some parts are too thin, which may affect its strength and durability.
7. Logo and brand
High quality: Generally, stainless steel manufacturers with larger brands will have clear logos on their products, such as material specifications, production batch numbers, etc.
Low quality: Some low-quality stainless steel plates may not have obvious logos, or the logos are blurred, or even no logos at all.
By checking these appearance characteristics, the quality of the stainless steel sheet can be preliminarily judged. But it should be noted that the appearance inspection can only be used as a reference, and the final quality needs to be confirmed by further professional tests such as chemical composition testing and strength testing.
